Winter is Coming!!!!

There is that chilly nip in the air in Delhi reminding one and all that winter is nigh. The cold makes that makes morning classes near impossible to attend not that we attend those anyways but then there are other reasons such as hangover or plain carelessness, the cold that seethes with anger since the prey is in multiple layers of wool and peeps in just enough to send jitters down the spine, the same jitter that we feel when we hear that dreaded term which also happens to be in season "placements" but also the cold which brings with it that wonderful license to have a rendezvous with our dear friend who happens to be a certain Old Monk. This winter there are other reasons to crawl back in to our shelters, an ever dipping economy which threatens to breach the north wall (placements); Fittingly most people who should have saved us have disappeared though not dead like the Starks and we have no Jon Snow in sights. while blasts ripped Patna, our respected home minister was launching the music of a film i dont even want to remember. Ironically even in the hey days of Lalu and his noble kins we did not have any blasts but then we believed more in guns and shooting people point blank rather than plant bombs and hide like cowards. Anyways getting back to point, the only person who seemed to be doing anything was our very own Raghu Bhaiya but he too seems to be content with the fact that rupee has stabilised at 61 which is still an epic fall. Although lets be fair there is a limit to what he can do especially when the Lannisters and Targaryens of India run amok. As the country stands still at a curve no one knows what lies ahead, thousands of graduates wait with bated breath as lesser people fight a battle turning ugly by the day to lead them with promises galore. We dont need much, is it too much to ask for a good clean economy? or may be we are too much of an idealist.\ But then the weather has also brought that effervescence of diwali, the mad paranoia that grips the market somehow instills an optimism that everything will work out, there is a light at the ned of tunnel however dim, so sit back and sip that old friend(monk) 'coz this too shall pass. As someone said "Roshni agar manjoor hai khuda ko to aandhiyon me bi chirag jalte hai". Happy Diwali!

The lesser Devil.......

And so I will vote for Modi and not for our cute little Cambridge-educated Baba. Why, you ask? Because for once Rahul Baba is not interested in the post. Not that he is suitable, anyway. On the other hand, Modi looks like a man possessed. For all his fallacies, he lets his work show. To quote from an article, A mere 5 percent of the population of the state of Gujarat contributes 16 of India’s total industrial output and 22 percent of its exports. Agriculture in Gujarat is prospering at a massive growth rate of 10 percent in comparison to nation’s average of 3 percent. The state has been able to achieve the unthinkable feat of providing 24X7 supply electricity to rural households. Baba on the other hand is too shy to take the lowly minister's job. He is the crowned king for whom the throne awaits, it's just his decision when. We shall all be waiting with flowers in our hands to welcome him! Look at the dump we are in and look at the response from our Prime Minister, if we have one, that is. Our Finance Minister says that India's golden period has been under the UPA. God save us if this has any semblance to a golden period. As MBAs, you hear corporates whisper that "our numbers are low" as beads of sweat form on your head. Dreams have been squashed, people are worried about getting a job, leave alone getting a humongous salary. So then if you ask me who will you vote for, I shall unabashedly say, Narendra Modi. He has his ghosts, but what option do we have? It's either him or again another dummy from the party/alliance whose lows know no bounds. I have had enough and so have thousand others like me. We don't know whether a temple will be built in Ayodhya or not, nor do we care. We don't know who is secular. No single party in India can be called secular (appeasement politics doesn't make you secular, it makes you all the more communal). We need jobs, we need growth, we need a vibrant economy. We want to stand tall in the world market as we once did not so long ago before this government decided to treat this country like a family heirloom.>

Nostalgia from the jungle raj.....

Amidst all confusion atleast there was a silver lining with the idiotic ordinance being withdrawn. I wonder though had it been anyone else other than Rahul Gandhi vehemently opposing the foolishness of an ordinance; the fate would have been the same. The ordinance was a slap on the face of voters as if the governement wanted to say we know you are most likely not going to elect us again so we might as well do whatever the hell we feel like even the timing conspicuously close to Lalu's date with destiny was unabashed and unapologetic. Well the ordinance was withdrawn and Mr Yadav ( it feels strange even calling him Mr Yadav) sent to jail. I am not sure though how long he will stay inside and as it is we notoriously forget quickly and forgive in a jiffy. Well I mean my state kept Lalu Yadav in power for 15 dark years, when I say dark it really was dark with little or no electricity(although it was a brilliant excuse not to study) and abundance of criminals. Hell we even elected Rabri Devi as our CM. Bihar was an investment paradise for kidnappers, we had criminals from all over the country establishing headquarters there (not that we were any short of home grown ones) since the capital required was less, government policies were favouring business, cheap labour was available and infrastructure was suited to perfection with desi Kattas readily available. Roads famously akin to Mr. Om Puri's face which did not allow law enforcement agencies to reach the safe havens of criminals not that they wanted to anyway and also sometimes these safe havens were the most famous addresses of Patna. All in all a ROI an investment firm would kill for. To have spent my childhood where every second day some school mate of mine was kidnapped (studied in DPS where who's who in Patna sent their kids and hence attracted majority of the investment), it was embarrassing to have your mother accompany you to the bus stop in class 8th, 9th even though only an incompetent kidnapper would have even looked at me. The professionals that they were they would have known ROI on me was abysmal. There were several other towering achievements of the Lalu-Rabri household but the less said the better. So Laluji no matter how many years you spend in jail it would not compensate for the terrible darkness that you subjected us to and with all the cash you have piled up over the years I am sure your lawyers, creme de la creme of the country would get you out sooner than later. I just hope feebly though that karma catches up with you but then again Karma is not that expensive for Swiss bank accounts...
